Colour prints from the 1960s to the 1990s fade unevenly: the dyes go first, leaving an orange or magenta cast, milky blacks and skin tones that have drifted away from anything human. Correcting that by eye takes curve adjustments per channel. The restoration engine does it in one pass and judges the result against how skin, sky and fabric are supposed to look.

Colour casts, not just brightness
Raising contrast on a yellowed photo only makes it a brighter yellow. The correction here works per colour channel, so the cast is removed and the original palette comes back.
Faded black-and-white prints too
Sepia-shifted and low-contrast monochrome prints are restored to clean neutral tones. If you would rather see them in colour, run the same photo through Colorize afterwards.
